You can in Howard County as part of the HoCo Housing Fair sponsored by Howard County Housing (HCH).
The HCH’s mission is to provide affordable, quality, safe and sustainable housing opportunities for low and moderate-income families living or working in the County and seeks to maintain a balance of living types and prices to support the county residents.
This year, the Housing Fair will be held Saturday April 11th from 10am to 2pm at Wild Lake High School 5460 Trumpeter Rd in Columbia. You can see the event details online at www.ComeHomeToHowardCounty.com or call 410-313-6318.
The fair is a one-stop-shop for information about buying, renting and resources available in the County for maintain a quality of life. The event will have about 30 education sessions and 60 exhibitors, bus tours, prize drawings, a Kid’s Zone and a Housing Lottery to purchase a new home priced well below market value. The lottery will be help at 1:30pm so don’t miss it….YOU must Pre-Register and complete the application for the home purchase lottery by April 6th!!! Not sure if you can afford a home? They will have credit counseling available to help and it’s FREE to the public. In addition, HCH offers a monthly 3 hour homebuyer education workshop held at their headquarters from 6pm to 9pm. Workshop focuses on five areas: accessing home readiness, budgeting and credit usage, finance a home, selecting a house, and maintaining and and post-purchase finances. Registration is required and can by done by e-mail homebuyerclass@howardcountyMD.gov or by calling 410-313-3696.
