Experience Ellicott City’s Centennial Park
Centennial Park UPDATE to my previous post.
Sections of the path on the North side of the Park are closed for improvement and with other sections to be closed throughout the rest of the year. This makes one of my favorite things to do in HoCo a bit different as you will have to plan on where to begin and expect to have to turn around and come back the same way. The work is intended to improve drainage issues in sections where water has damaged the path. Note there are signs in the Parking lot and around the path to advise you where they are working.
>>>My Favorite Things’ about Ellicott City in Howard County, Maryland.
As a Realtor, I’m always asked by my clients why I live in Howard Count and specifically Ellicott City. There are many things I think Ellicott City and Howard County, Maryland have to offer that I do not find other places but one of my all time favorite is the park at Centennial Park which is located at the intersection of Centennial Lane, Old Annapolis Road and Route 108. One of the many features of this park is the 2.6 mile paved pathway that surrounds the lake and provides a view of nature at every turn and incline. The 337 acre Park has won awards for its design and sensitivity to nature and includes a 54 acre man-made lake. I’ve seen white tailed deer, turtles and Herons but I’ve heard there are also Beavers, Foxes and many bird species. I can be found walking my dog Daisy around the lake many mornings but others run, bike and just sit on one of the many benches or fish. The boat house offer boat and fishing equipment rental and there are 9 picnic area located throughout the park. In addition, there are several play ground areas as well as Soccer Fields, Tennis Courts, Basketball courts and a small open Pavilion that offers free music on Wednesday nights in the summer.
The park is run by the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks, which does a wonderful job at supporting the Howard County Residents with a variety of activities and classes for young children and families to Senior Adults. They provide everything from recreational sports for all ages, to classes of any topic you can think of, to trips and special events.
I love the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks. Check them out here and let me know what you think. https://www.co.ho.md.us/RAP/RAP_HomePage.htm
