Things Get Spooky in HoCo for Halloween
Love Halloween? I do. What’s not to love about ghost stories, candy and pumpkin everything. If you haven’t made your plans for Halloween there is still time. Howard County has lots of spooky events going. Here are some ideas.
- October 24 join professional storyteller, Janice Curtis Green and friends at Banneker Park for eerie, scary stories around the campfire, followed by that all-time favorite: S’mores. - October 25 Prepare for the Zombie Apocalypse at Terrapin Adventures. Their trained guides will see if you have what it takes in the areas of Endurance, Agility, Strength, Courage, and Accuracy to survive the Zombie Apocalypse. Strengthen your muscles and climbing skills on the Terrapin Tower, Improve your agility on their obstacle course, Learn to conquer your fear on their very high ropes course, Fine tune your accuracy while traveling down a 300 foot zip line, and since the Zombie Apocalypse is coming have fun while you can on their crazy Giant Swing, As always they will be donating 10% of the proceeds to a local charity. - On October 24 to 26 Hallowread is and event for authors and fans of paranormal, urban fantasy, steam punk and Horror. Events for the mini-conference include writing workshops, ghost tours, a Steam Punk Tea at Tea on the Tiber, author panels, and book signing. There is even a paranormal investigation and a visit to the new haunted house attraction at the Patapsco Female Institute. Sound like a fun way to spooking for the holiday. - On October 25 to 26 Halloween and Gem Mining event at Clarks Ellioak Farm. There will be Costume Parades at 11 AM and 2 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Face painting. Cider and pumpkins at our country store. Take a hayride to the pumpkin patch!! Pumpkins galore!! C.J.’s Pit Beef, too. Face painting, pony rides and cow train rides also available. Call 410-730-4049
- October 26 , The Enchanted Forest Trick-IN-Treat for Tots is a stroller friendly trick or treating event that takes participants through the Robinson Nature Center’s outdoor exhibits. Eash stop along the paved trail will over fun activities for younger children. There will also be a treat to take home. www.howardcountymd.gov/RNCspecialevents.htm). Cost is $7 per child and $5 dollars per adult. Reservations are required.
